Famous For: The First Red Lipstick

When looking to create her first line of lipsticks, Gabrielle Chanel's first point of purpose was the texture. She wanted to create hydrating balms that were comfortable yet pigmented. The first lipstick produced was a classic red colour, the black metal it was packaged in had a slider mechanism to access the lipstick. To identify the colour of the lipstick from the packaging, a sticker of the same colour was stuck to the bottom of the tube.
