Timed Assessment (Catwalk Look)

I am always in awe of the amazing looks Chanel manage to create time after time for their runway shows. Though they're usually quite avant garde, I wanted to design and create a more stripped back, wearable version of a Chanel catwalk look for my timed assessment. For peace of mind, I didn't want to create a look too risque considering the time restraint and the pressures of assessment conditions. I did,  of course, include the essence of Chanel runway makeup in my designs.

For my timed assessment, I chose to create a catwalk look for my brand, Chanel. Though a lot of the Chanel catwalk looks are avant garde, I wanted to create a look a little more wearable in preparation for the rest of my looks.

When looking for inspiration from Chanel campaigns, I noticed that the makeup usually pairs a strong lip with a subtle eye or vice versa. The looks always include immaculate, healthy skin with pristine and precise application. For the look I create, I am interested in pairing a smokey eye with a soft taupe lip. 

                  

For the hairstyles, I want to, again, create a style in keeping with the tone of Chanel. The majority of the hair and makeup adverts present their model with an up hairstyle. I am looking to create a  minimal and mature hairstyle with a messy edge to it. I complied some images below of inspirational hairstyles. 

For the hairstyle of this look I am going to create a rough french pleat with a sweeping fringe and fly aways. 

For the makeup, I am going to create a healthy glowing skin with smudgy black eye shadow and matte taupe lip.

Here are the outcome images from the timed assessment/ my catwalk look. I dressed my model in a simple black evening dress with a heavy silver embellished neck line. The makeup definitely suits my model though I wish I'd have enhanced the smudgy black eyeshadow and possibly used false lashes for more definition. I am glad the warm tones work well with my model's complexion, especially the lip colour which was a blend of two lipsticks. 

 The hairstyle was trickier to create than I thought it'd be. I knew my model's hair was short but I knew they style was still  achievable. It was just fiddily and time consuming to get the hair into position and to secure the shorter strands of hair.
